Portrait Society of America Sketches

The PSOA annual conference is always good inspiration! The first sketch is from a photo I took of one of the models during the "Face Off", which is probably my favorite event on the schedule. This model is phenomenal: beautiful, holds the pose, and brings so much character and elegance to bear.

The rest are sketches I made of models, teachers and attendees as I went. I played with watercolor pencils on a self portrait, but I'm an extremely uncooperative model! [revised a bit on May 3].

And I had to try out the pastel pencils I bought...

Aloha!

    1. You are so kind, Chris! The self portrait is a bit odd in terms of color but I'm blaming that on experimenting with them for a portrait. I did the Richeson one the next day and you can see it's better.

    2. Got to revise the self portrait a bit; more livable!

  2. You are inspirational Melle!! Love all the sketches, but my favourite has to be the first one, she reminds me of Miss Havisham in Great Expectations!!

    1. Thanks Azra! I think her name is Annie. Not sure where she is based, but she is a star, for sure. I'll post more about the conference later!
