Encore

Pete was the second model that I painted in Tom Edgerton's class, and now he's back for 4 sittings this time. So, I have a chance to see what I've learned (surely something!). He's wearing the same shirt, but I insisted we change the background this go-round. The purple was starting to wear me down a bit. Tonight, I took some time off painting to watch Tom paint...he makes it look easy, but it's not. I find that even with repetition, I still am only  beginning to hear what he's saying. If  I could only remember to tone a canvas before class!

No class next week, so maybe I'll have a chance to get back to the Daily Paintworks challenges....way behind on those! Aloha!

Grace

Only three sittings with this lovely model...not enough time to do her justice, but what a wonderful journey into portraiture I am having.  Tough to find the energy for painting after a long day at work, but I wouldn't miss it for anything. Aloha!

An Old Story

This is a detail from a new large canvas, just starting the block in...not meant to be a pretty picture, but if truth is beauty, then I will give it all the beauty I can. Aloha, Friends

Lake Jeannette

Since Carol Marine has been inspiring me with her plein aire paintings, I got my motivation and my gear and headed outdoors to make her "birthday celebration" painting. Ran out of time and had to finish it (or muddle it up) in the studio. It was a challenging and fun.

Apologies for the poor quality photos...will have to replace some of these soon! Aloha!

More August Grace

Session 2 of the Portrait Blass with Tom Edgerton, for which I continue to be grateful. The last few weeks have been challenging on a personal level. Having these classes to look forward to really helps get me through the day. I did a plein aire today as well, but it needs some studio work before presentation. Aloha, Friends!

August Portrait

Well, I was late to class and interrupted several times, and couldn't ever get focused enough to get the drawing right...ah, well. I just called it paint therapy night and will hope to make more progress next week. Aloha!

Final Session July Portrait

Tonight was the fourth and last session with this model. She was a joy to paint and this was the first painting I've done with this much time, which was really satisfying. Aloha!
